Deadly Loyalties

Deadly Loyalties is set in a city rife with gangs who recruit members as young as they can get them. When Blaise, a fourteen-year-old girl and the novel’s narrator, witnesses the murder of her friend Sheldon by rival gang members, she is pulled into a gang war.

The novel is an engrossing coming-of-age story that depicts the gritty and often gruesome realities of life on the streets. Deadly Loyalties looks honestly at the violence and pressures that teenagers face when they try to belong. The story reveals how bad choices are not always rooted in bad values and how a search for belonging can result in mistaken loyalties. Deadly Loyalties is a tale of friendship, betrayal and redemption—of loyalty, revenge and survival.
